Tired of it all

I'm tired of people complaining that their gowns cost too much. I'm tired of people saying oh you can pay for it. HELLO? The gowns can be worn again, and are meant to compliment my wedding gown. No I'm not going to pay for your gown because Daryl and I are paying for 90% of the wedding ourselves. I'm sorry that you don't like the fact that people had to pay xxx for their gown you dont like it you could have said, no and told me that you were backing out of the wedding party. I'm tired of the bitching folks. You don't like it ....deal with it....... realize that weddings are expensive in the first place, and unlike some of you my parents are not paying for my wedding. I'm not one to put that burden on them. Deal with the cost and realize that you can wear the gown for other occasions or you can put it up for sale after the wedding on craigslist or in a consignment shop to try and recoup some of the cost. Remember: you could have said thank you for asking me to be in your wedding but I would rather not. You had the option of backing out.... While yes the gown is designer it is also of good quality where it won't fall apart.

This is supposed to be a happy day for me and a happy time for me ......and guess what....because of all the bickering and griping its not. I'm done. If you want out of the wedding and have already paid for your gown, put your gown up for sale unworn at a consignment shop or on craigslist for the price that you paid for it before any alterations are done and tell me to my face either via phone, in person, or via email that you don't want to be in the wedding anymore. I won't be mad...i wont be upset...I'll understand...........

2008 is a big year!

Well, so far 2008 has started off with a bang for me. On January 2, 2008 I was offered a new job, which I accepted. I had been unhappy where I was at for some time, and putting up with abuse of a sort from my supervisor. I was frustrated because I was not able to use my education and began to question why I was going for my bachelors degree in Information Security at the time. That changed on January 2nd. I started appreciating that I have worked so hard at my education. I immediately turned my resignation in, which was not received well at all, but I expected that and in the end reaffirmed my decision to leave. Was it scary? Yes. Did I question my decision? Yes I did, I began to wonder if I was doing the right thing, but after talking it over with some friends whom I could trust and felt would give me a honest answer and some soul searching on my own, I felt that I was doing the right thing.

I have been at my new job for a total of 3 weeks now. In that three weeks I have gotten us caught up with everything, gotten inventory done, arranged to have PC's and monitors recycled, and in fact can add an item to my resume that I am now familiar with, something that I was told that I would never have a chance to do at my previous job. I have handled everything in the office by myself on four occasions, whether it be due to weather, sickness, or having to go to another office to install hardware. But I have proven that I can handle what happens in the office without supervision, and with relatively no assistance. I have been told that I am doing a great job, and that everything that I have been doing is very much appreciated. I have also been told from an admin that they have heard nothing but wonderful stuff from others in the office about me. They are saying "Fast response, great attitude." While I am on contract with this company for 3 to 6 months, after that I can be hired on permanently, at this point I have no doubt that I will be hired on permanently.

When I was at my previous company, I would come home frustrated, go outside during the day on the verge of crying or wanting to put my hand thru a wall. It was not a healthy situation at all. I don't know if I could have stayed there much longer and kept my sanity. While I will say this for them, they gave me the opportunity and I did learn a lot while I was there. I got some experience which helped me obtain the job that I have gotten now. But with that company there was no way I could have reached my personal career goals. They didn't have the need for a 3rd system administrator. My suggests to improve security, both physical and data, were unwanted, being told that its not needed. Not needed? I highly doubted that. In order to protect your data and keep your business running, it is highly recommended that only authorized personnel have access to your servers as well as your phone systems. Not needed, I don't think so. What happens in the cause of an emergency? What are employees supposed to do if there is no power? What is their Disaster Recovery Plan? What about Business Continuity? I won't answer those questions here because I know the answers to them.

With my new job, I have come home with a smile on my face for the past 3 weeks and I am loving my job.

Ok I said 2008 is going to be a big year, so what else is happening this year?

Well...............
I will be graduating with my bachelors degree this year as well, right now the current debate is do I graduate in June or September? Will explain this later in another post when I get word back from my school chair.

so thats 2 things for 2008 so far.....what else?

I get married this year. Saturday August 16, 2008 I get married to one of my best friends. I say one of my best friends because I have 2 best friends. I believe you can have more than one best friend.

Wedding plans are coming along and things are coming into place. We are having our engagement photo session next month.

sad ending to my vacation

Well, I had hoped for a happy ending to my vacation, but didn't necessarily happen that way. My vacation ended on the note of a trip to the Highline Medical Center Emergency Room.
What happened? At approx 7pm Pacific Time I took Zeus and Poseidon out to use the potty. We had just gotten past the motorcycles and I felt them starting to pull on the leash, which I had around my wrist. I was trying to get it off to just let them go but I didn't succeed. I fell and was dragged down 6 concrete stairs, past the dog kennel all face first.
Neighbors heard me screaming and came to my aid. When I saw them I had already dragged the dogs back to the house and had got them on the hook so they were somewhat secure.
I managed to get upstairs (although painfully) and grab a washcloth to wipe the blood that was flowing down my nose and the dirt off. My neighbors were then knocking on the door and as I was letting them in was on the phone with my fiance telling him he needed to come get me and take me to the hospital as I could not put any weight on my leg or foot. Neighbors proceeded to grab ice to put on my ankle that was already starting to swell.
After hours in the ER and scrutiating pain during xrays was given a percoset (spelling?) to help with the pain, and a prescription for pain killers. Thankfully nothing is broken, all it is is a sprained knee and ankle.

I'll post pictures when i have the energy to take some

My Horoscope

Daily Gemini horoscope:
News of a possible rise in income could come your way today, dear Gemini - possibly through some enterprise of your own that you've been working on. You're feeling especially energetic, and therefore you could well be tempted to take on more than you usually do. This is fine, but remember to pace yourself. If you're going to continue on your current path, you'll need to save some energy for tomorrow and beyond!

hmmm i wonder if this will come true?

I already opened birthday gifts :) 2 briefcase thermoses and a jvc camcorder that will also take still photos :)

(Above courtesty compusa.com)

I happened to walk in to the compusa in south center that is closing its doors.

It had operating systems marked 30% off. I bought the Ultimate Upgrade regularyl $259.99 for $181.99. The price was reasonable at 181.99. I loaded it on my laptop fairly easily, upgraded drivers to vista, no problems. ...only concern.....is Guild Wars going to play on it? So I connected to my lan line at home, and launched guild wars ....... and it launched! i was able to log in and play

Laptop is dieing..........very slowly

The Inspiron 5100 from Dell that I own is slowly dieing. It is on its last legs. Last night in class, screen suddenly when white. While I was initially saying what the hell...where did my video go? After a while and some troubleshooting with another classmate and friend, figured out that the wires that go to the video controller is either (a) loose (b) shorting ...... have it rigged for now to work, but was strongly suggested to me to get another laptop............ Yes this is dell's bad boy laptop.....the laptop that has always been known to have issues from day 1...ie this laptop badly overheats......... how I have been lucky with it since I have had it for a couple of years (like 3 I think...) it has gotten me thru my associates and to the start of my 3rd quarter of my bachelors.......

anyway a new laptop has been bought, and I am very anxiously awaiting for.
the new laptop has:
512 mb Video
1 GB RAm
100GB sata hard drive

I also bought the bigger battery to give me longer time unplugged and the auto/air adapter. Yes my new laptop will be going with me to Oklahoma and Arizona. It also has wireless built in (something I elected not to have on the 5100)

Anyway........ on other news I also had purchased a 250GB Sata hard drive for my pc at home. I received this toy in the mail yesterday....upon opening it I realized that I didn't have enough power connectors or sata connectors on my current power supply....... so I went in search of a new power supply this morning as I got into work......and quickly purchased a 550 watt power supply that also has the sata power connectors already attached ....no adapter needed....

Am in class awaiting the instructor to arrive who thought class was tomorrow and not tomorrow. School chair said we could have class tomorrow instead of waiting for the instructor tonight, and I said "Oh heck no..... I get tomorrow with my fiance you are not taking that from me".....he had already threatened Saturday class last night........ I do NOT want a Saturday class again.....its a dread and throws a wrench in everything.....

EDITED:
Here is what my new laptop will be:

My Boys! Poseidon going goofy over their bone! Tug of war over a duck!

Will I be moved to IT full time is the current question up in the air and the reason I can't sit still currently.

I'm Proud of her

Lyndsay joined Job Corp to finish her diploma and get her certificate in Certified Nursing Assistant. She leaves for Portland on the 13th. Her dad and I fully support her and in fact bought her luggage and supplies to get her started. She has yet to tell her mom that she is leaving but I'm sure she is not going to be happy about it.

She will be down there for a year that we know of, although her scholarships gives her up to two years there.

I get to see my sweetie

yea does the happy dance I've spent the past two nights with my sweetheart and I get tonight with him as soon as I get home from class. And then I get allllll weekend with him....yea babby

on the work front things are looking up, I may be moved at least part time into IT. to help them install operating systems and such. I got my amplifier back for my phone and suddenly I can hear again. We'll see. I'm working on keeping my voice calm and collected and not let any frustration show in my voice. Hopefully it will work bring my scores up.

Complex Problems

from my starbucks cup:
"Complex problemse defy simple solutions. One cannot end poverty by giving money to every poor person, nor is the world cleaned up if everyone rode their bikes to work instead of driving. We need to commit to a total solution for our perceived problems. We need to also remember that most solutions hurt people too. What or who we hurt and who or what we fix is always the tough part of the equation."

Hmmm What to have for dinner

What do I want to have for dinner? I was not really all that hungry last night but forced myself to eat top ramen just to get something in my stomach. So what should Daryl and I have for dinner tonight?

Monday, January 22, 2007

Ugh

So sleepy all I wanna do is go to sleep. ....debating on if I am going to stay up and watch 24 tonight or not. Got all my homework done except for the one that is due on Friday.....I gotta do that......

Monday, January 15, 2007

Blah and yea!

Well, Daryl told me that I can quit my job since they said that my vacation is 'dependent' on them finding another person to fill the last tech support position. He said, "It's not like you have to work, you chose too. Yes it will be tight for a while but we will survive." With that said I have started actively looking for another job and hoping that the one with my friend comes available soon. Anything to get me out of my current job. Anything.

Puppy update: Poseidon is doing much better with his hurt paw. He hog tied himself last Wednesday for a couple of hours, when Daryl and I got home it was the size of a baseball almost. I spent two hours in the snow with him that night cold= swelling go down! Some of the swelling went down with that and over the next couple of days we just were careful with him knowing that his paw was hurt and didnt have all the feeling back into it yet. Well yesterday I saw open wounds where the lead had cut in. I took both the puppies out, then left Zeus downstairs so I could treat Poseidon's wounds without having to worry about Zeus. While Poseidon cried he didn't try to snip or bite me at all. He in fact just sit there and licked my face as I applied the neosporin to the gauze and then put the ace bandage around his paw. Bringing Zeus up I let them play while I did chores around the house. While I initially left the ace bandage the normal length I could tell he didnt like it after a couple of hours. So when I took them down to feed them I took the bandage and the gauze off. I got a clean thing of gauze put more neosporin on it and cut the ace bandage so that I only had to go around the wound three times instead of twenty. Seems much happier now.

TV Show update:
My show has finally started! Yea 24 is back on. Wow what a thriller and makes you want to keep your seat. Although I thought they were going to kill Jack in the first show I told myself, "No they won't." Sure enough he lived and escaped his captors....as usual. .... Go Jack!
